On the doorstep of the Luberon National Park, and set within an excellent wine estate amid fragrant scrubland and mountain tops in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region, lies Villa Thyme, a beautifully restored 16th-century home offering spectacular 360-degree views over rolling vineyards. This lesser-known corner of Provence leaves a lasting impression on all who visit, thanks to both the warmth of its people and the richness of its local gastronomy. Nearby villages including Roussillon, Bonnieux, Ménerbes, and Gordes continue to charm visitors, offering glimpses into the area’s rich history alongside its wild, dramatic landscapes.
Villa Thyme has undergone several transformations over the years, each adding further beauty and comfort for guests. The décor has been chosen to reflect the property’s unique character, featuring noble wood, oak flooring, exposed stone and beams, and celebrated tiles from the renowned Vernin factory. The harmonious Provençal garden, framed by the peaks of Mont Lure on one side and the dramatic heights of Mont Ventoux on the other, was designed to honour both the natural scenery and history of the land, and features two swimming pools, a tennis court, a boules court, and delightful lavender fields. Various charming sitting and dining areas invite guests to enjoy the views, alongside opportunities for wellness activities such as massage and yoga sessions.
The property forms part of a wider estate that also includes the charming four-bedroom villa, La Maison Oppedette, both lovingly restored and featured within our portfolio. The property owners have also spent years cultivating the estate’s organic vines, with the resulting vineyard now producing 11 organic wines, complemented by an impressive, architecturally designed winery and restaurant. Guests staying at Villa Thyme can enjoy a tour of the vineyard, dine at La Terrasse restaurant, or arrange for prepared meals to be delivered and enjoyed at the villa.
The property itself comprises three independent houses, each offering wonderfully comfortable living spaces. Maison Haute and Maison Basse both feature three en-suite bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, and a spacious living area with open fire, perfect for cooler evenings. The third house, the recently refurbished Le Mas de Sinety, offers a further four generously proportioned en-suite bedrooms with high ceilings, alongside a vast open-plan living and dining area large enough to comfortably host all 20 of the domaine’s guests together. Furnishings throughout combine locally sourced antiques with soft linens and high-quality bedding. The villa also features excellent spa facilities, including a Jacuzzi, sauna, Hammam, gym, relaxation room, and massage rooms, with separate towels provided for bathrooms, spa, and pool areas, along with spa robes and slippers.
