Magnificently restored, Il Mugnello is quite literally the resurrection of a ruin, rebuilt over the course of a decade by a Nigerian-Italian designer with a bold and passionate vision. The property sits on the shoulder of Radicondoli, the nearby medieval hilltop town, where guests can enjoy a morning coffee walk alongside the locals or round off the day with a freshly baked pizza. The owner was supported throughout her extraordinary restoration project by the Radicondoli community, who extend the same warm welcome to fortunate visitors staying at Il Mugnello.

Arrival at the villa, via a truly Tuscan avenue of cypress trees, hints at the splendour of the scenery still to come. The house faces an unspoilt stretch of countryside southwest of Siena, known as the “colline metallifere.” Breathtaking sunsets paint the villa’s façade in shades of orange, highlighting the colours and textures of the undulating landscape of farmland, woodland, and stone villages rising on the surrounding hills. This view can be enjoyed throughout the delightful grounds of Il Mugnello, characterised by rolling lawns and fragrant bursts of lavender, rosemary, rose, and hydrangea. An outdoor lounge and dining area offer ample, relaxed space to take in the scenery, as does the pool terrace, with its own sweeping panorama.

Stepping inside, the interiors make an immediate impression through their style, flair, and evident attention to detail. Sumptuously dressed beds, gorgeous linens, Frette pool towels, and wonderfully comfortable living spaces combine to make guests feel instantly at home. Long tables stand ready for Tuscan feasts, and the layout of the en-suite guest rooms offers real flexibility to accommodate any group configuration. These rooms are spread across three separate buildings — Casa Isabel, Casa Cristina, and Casa Simisola — though guests will never share the grounds with another party; any houses not in use remain closed to ensure complete privacy and exclusivity throughout your stay. Beyond Radicondoli and the nearby town of Monte Castelli, plenty of local attractions await to tempt guests away from Il Mugnello — discover the surrounding countryside through walking, cycling, and riding at Tegoni, visit the impressive medieval village of Chiusdino, or take a scenic drive to Siena, San Gimignano, and the celebrated wineries of the Chianti region.
